Francesco Raviglione

Dr. Francesco Raviglione, born in Biella (Italy) in 1994, earned his B.Sc. in Computer Engineering (2016) and M.Sc. in Mechatronics Engineering (2018) from Politecnico di Torino, focusing on automotive and embedded systems. In November 2019 he started his Ph.D. in Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering. He completed it cum laude in 2022, with a thesis on “Open platforms for connected vehicles”. He was also a visiting scholar at Northeastern University, Portland, Maine, USA, for six months between 2021 and 2022.
Currently, he is an Assistant Professor (RTD-A) at Politecnico di Torino, specializing in vehicular networking platforms and protocols, in open source, customizable, solutions for wireless networking use cases, and in network measurements and performance assessment. He is one of the main developers of the ms-van3t (https://github.com/ms-van3t-devs/ms-van3t) and OScar (https://github.com/DriveX-devs/OScar) platforms for vehicular communications.

PostDocs

Antonio Calagna

Dr. Antonio Calagna is a postdoctoral researcher at Politecnico di Torino, Italy, where he received the Ph.D. degree, cum laude, in Electrical, Electronics, and Communications Engineering in 2025. His research focuses on fundamental challenges in time- and mission-critical AI inference at the network edge, as well as on the placement and orchestration of microservice-based architectures across the edge–cloud continuum.

His Ph.D. thesis, “Mobility-Aware Orchestration and Management of Edge Services in Next-Generation Mobile Networks,” addressed key challenges in microservice migration and distributed microservice architectures, contributing to the advancement of intelligent and sustainable next-generation mobile networks.

Marco Palena

Dr. Marco Palena is a postdoctoral researcher at Politecnico di Torino, Italy. He received his Ph.D. in Computer and Control Engineering from Politecnico di Torino in 2017, with a thesis titled “Exploiting Boolean Satisfiability Solvers for High-Performance Bit-Level Model Checking”. In 2013, he was a visiting scholar at Northeastern University in Boston, USA. From 2018 to 2023, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at DAUIN (Department of Control and Computer Engineering) at Politecnico di Torino, focusing on formal methods for hardware verification. Since 2024, he has been affiliated with CNIT as part of its Research Unit at Politecnico di Torino. His current research interests include semantic communication and collaborative intelligence at the network edge.
